Led by singer/songwriter Ryan Seitz, Divorcee mixes rock and roll, power pop, and solid melodic songwriting into a sound that is all their own. Ryan constructs his tales with the trained eye of a short-story writer, fusing them with Jon Herchert’s soulful guitar melodies and the bands lush background vocals.

Divorcee was originally started in 2001 by Ryan as a demo project to record his growing collection of songs. The demo sessions were independently released as the bands first album, “Lovesick”in 2001.“Lovesick”enjoyed success on college radio across the country. It was the only independently released add to make the top 10 for the week of 8/26/2001 and charted in the top 30 at over 60 college stations nationwide.

In 2004, the lads hunkered down in Jon’s studio to record a new record. Scheduled for a June 2005 release, the new album “Music for Clean-up men, breakdown and in-betweeners”explores new sonic territory thanks to the fresh collaboration between the band members.

The Onion says:
"Coincidentally (or perhaps appropriately) Divorcee has undergone some breakups and membership shakeups, but for the past several years it's been a stable pop trio featuring Redstart drummer Matt Novachis, multi-instrumentalist John Herchert, and singer-guitarist Ryan Seitz. On its new album, Music For Cleanup Men, Breakdown And Inbetweeners, the band shows an aptitude for catchy tunes and solid hooks: Seitz's pleasing warble meshes nicely with his fondness for Coldplay-eque Britpop."

Star Tribune says:
"Minnesota's answer to Robyn Hitchcock, Ryan Seitz, has put together a new lineup of Divorcee but maintained its Anglophile pop-rock sound on the band's first CD in four years, "Music for Cleanup Men, Breakdown and Inbetweens." The release party should be far less pretentious than the title."

City Pages says:
"Black Hole," the strongest track on Divorcee's sophomore album, Music for Cleanup Men, Breakdown and Inbetweeners (Princess Records), has all the hallmarks of good pop. Here you'll find a simple, hummable melody, angelic backup vocals, and the warm embrace of a sweetheart motto, "You'll never be alone again." Now imagine 11 more songs of the same."
